Despite four wins over AVCA top 10 teams and finishing fifth in the Big Ten Purdue’s resume was not good enough to earn them a seed and chance to host. Purdue (22-9, 12-8) will have to hit the road to Utah to play High Point University. Utah and Cleveland State will face each other in the other match-up.
This year’s tournament appearance is Purdue’s 12th in 14 years and 19th overall. Last season Purdue advanced to the second round where they lost to Missouri in four sets. Purdue’s best tournament finish was the regional finals, three times, most recently in 2013.
