As Travis and I talked about in our latest podcast (which is currently in post-production), Purdue can get revenge for a decade old loss this weekend. The only meeting between Maryland and Purdue occurred back in December 2006 in the Champs Sports Bowl. It may have only been 10 years ago, but a lot has changed since then:
- The Champs Sports Bowl is now the Russell Athletic Bowl (this and Georgia Tech’s apparel contract are the only two things to remind you that Russell Athletic still exists).
- Maryland joined the Big Ten
- Voyager 1 left the solar system
- Hammer & Rails joins SB Nation
- Current Purdue football players were in 3rd through 6th grades last time Maryland and Purdue played
- I became a Purdue fan (for those who don’t know, I used to cheer for those silly Domers)
- And many more (feel free to add more in the comments)
Heck, just looking at YouTube (which wasn’t even 2 years old the last time Maryland and Purdue played) doesn’t have much on the lone match up other than the Purdue band and some non-HD highlights.
