Rutgers is the birthplace of college football, but Purdue has never faced the Scarlet Knights before this week. A Purdue victory would make Rutgers just the 4th Big Ten team with an all-time losing record to the Boilers, joining Indiana, Northwestern, and Iowa (Illinois is close at 44-42-6 against us).
More importantly, Purdue absolutely needs to win this game. We are a road favorite for the first time since at Illinois in 2012. Purdue won that game by 3, but was a 6 point favorite. Purdue has not covered as a road favorite since 2009 at Indiana. As of this morning Purdue was an 8-point favorite.
