As mentioned, it is a family affair for Washington. His grandfather also played football at Purdue in the 1950s. That was a strong enough connection for him to jump at a Purdue offer out of New Jersey as a three-star linebacker.
So far, the development is ongoing. Washington redshirted in 2019 and played in two games as a reserve.
