Vermont 3, PC 1: Late goals beat Friars

PROVIDENCE -- Vermont scored twice within 84 seconds in the third period on the way to a 3-1 win over Providence College at Schneider Arena on Friday night.

Stefanos Lekkas stopped 33 shots for the Catamounts, who were outshot, 34-18, by the Friars.

Max Kaufman opened the scoring for Vermont with a power-play goal at 1:40 of the second period.

PC’s Vincent Desharnais tied the game at 13:33 of the second, assisted by Scott Conway and Brandon Duhaime.

Conor O’Neil scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal for Vermont at 16:29 of the third period.
