PROVIDENCE – Live by the three, die by the three.
After nearly blowing out the Massachusetts Minutemen in a dizzying first half marked by nine 3-pointers, the Providence Friars watched their visitors storm back from a 20-point deficit and escape with a thrilling 79-78 victory at a stunned Dunkin’ Donuts Center Friday night.
Luwane Pipkins capped off a 26 point night by driving to the rim and scoring with 10 seconds left. PC rushed down the floor but Alpha Diallo’s driving layup went off the rim under heavy defense.
Diallo led the Friars with 21 points and Nate Watson added.
