WASHINGTON — Things certainly didn’t begin smoothly for the Providence Friars Wednesday night at Capital One Arena but they ended with a bang and a clutch Big East victory.

The Friars shook off an awful offensive start and a blizzard of foul calls to dominate in the second half to secure a 73-63 victory and grab a season sweep of Georgetown. PC will look for another sweep Saturday when it hosts Marquette.

Alpha Diallo continued his strong play with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Luwane Pipkins added 16 and Kalif Young and Maliek White chipped in 11 apiece in what was a big second half for PC’s five seniors.
