Providence 79, Maine 59: Friars close out six-game home sweep

PROVIDENCE --- The road now beckons for Providence College after yet another victory at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, the ultimate proving ground for the type of team it hopes to become this season.

Tuesday night's late tip was relatively easy work for the Friars against former assistant coach Bob Walsh and his Maine Black Bears. Providence built a 19-point lead in barely 10 minutes and coasted to a 79-59 victory, leaving Connecticut as the only New England flagship university spared during an impressive nonconference start.

Emmitt Holt (18 points, 10 rebounds), Jalen Lindsey (12 points, nine boards) and Kyron Cartwright (nine points, six assists) led the way yet again for the Friars, who put the finishing touches on a six-game sweep of a three-week homestand.
