PC’s Thomas among founders of Coaches For Action

George Floyd was killed while in police custody on May 25, suffocated with his neck squeezed under the knee of former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin for nearly nine minutes.

Providence College assistant men’s basketball coach Ivan Thomas wasn’t among those surprised. The native of Norfolk, Va., watched the recorded video of the incident with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children. Chauvin was subsequently fired from the force and criminally charged along with three other ex-officers.

“For me, I’ll tell you it was nothing new,” Thomas said on Monday evening.
