CBS Sports reporter Jon Rothstein reported today that Providence will take part in the 2021 Empire Classic in Madison Square Garden. The tournament will likely be played in November 2021 and will include PC, Louisville, Gonzaga, and Oklahoma State.

This is obviously a great opportunity for the Friars. Last year’s Empire Classic field included Georgetown, Duke, Texas, and Cal, while the 2020 field will feature Villanova, Michigan, North Carolina State, and Baylor, assuming it has not been cancelled due to COVID-19.
