PC Friars firing 3-pointers at brisk pace

PROVIDENCE – The Providence College Friars nearly set a record no team is looking to celebrate in its Gavitt Games loss at Northwestern Wednesday night.

With a focus on shot selection seemingly thrown out the window by a veteran team, the Friars fell behind a young, inexperienced Wildcats team by 20 points early in the second half. By then PC’s offense had gone haywire after a host of missed layups were interspersed with too many quick 3-point shots from all corners, and especially seniors Alpha Diallo (1-of-8) and Luwane Pipkins (3-of-11).

Trailing 55-35 with 12:37 to play, the Friars shifted into desperation mode.
