PC 3, UMass Lowell 1: Friars lock up first-round playoff bye

LOWELL, Mass. — Erik Foley’s goal with 2:01 to play snapped a 1-1 tie and led Providence College to a 3-1 victory over UMass Lowell on Saturday night at Tsongas Arena.

PC (20-9-4, 13-6-4 Hockey East) set a program record with its fifth consecutive 20-win season.

Kasper Bjorkqvist’s goal at 5:20 of the second period gave PC a 1-0 lead that the Friars would carry late into the third period.

UMass Lowell’s Chris Forney tied it at 1-1 with 2:43 to play. Foley answered with the game-winner just 42 seconds later and Josh Wilkins added an empty-net goal with 51 seconds remaining.
