PC 3, Holy Cross: Back-to-back shutouts for Hayden Hawkey

Hayden Hawkey made 27 saves for his second straight shutout as the third-ranked Providence College men’s hockey team blanked Holy Cross, 3-0, on Saturday night at the Hart Center in Worcester, Mass.

Ben Mirageas and Brandon Duhaime each had a goal and an assist for the Friars, who also got two assists from Josh Wilkins. PC (5-1-1) outshot Holy Cross (1-5), 38-27.

Spenser Young gave PC a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal 1:11 into the second period. It was Young’s team-high fourth goal of the season with assists going to Wilkins and Jacob Bryson.

PC upped its lead to 2-0 just 5:49 into the third period when Mirageas’ shot found its way through traffic and beat Holy Cross goalie Beau Collins.
