Minnesota-Duluth knocks out defending champion Providence in NCAA hockey tournament

Karson Kuhlman scored at 57 seconds of the second overtime to give Minnesota-Duluth a 2-1 victory over defending NCAA champion Providence on Friday night in the Northeast Regional semifinals in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Kuhlman controlled Willie Raskob's shot in the slot and beat goalie Nick Ellis.

The Bulldogs (19-16-5) will face the Boston College-Harvard winner for a spot in the Frozen Four in Tampa, Florida.

Minnesota-Duluth's Tony Cameranesi opened the scoring at 3:18 of the third, and Steven McParland tied for Providence (27-7-4) at 7:22. Cameranesi also assisted on the winning goal.

Kasimir Kaskisuo made 36 saves for Minnesota-Duluth, and Ellis stopped 54 shots for Providence.
