Marquette 76 PC 58: Friar offense fails to show in another home loss

PROVIDENCE – Don’t listen to the skeptics. The Big East certainly has at least one elite team this season.

Marquette came into the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Saturday and showed Providence College basketball fans why they’re the No. 11 team in the country. Even with All-America guard Markus Howard under wraps, the Golden Eagles dominated the hometown Friars and cruised to a 76-58 victory.

Marquette, now 23-4 overall and atop the Big East with a 12-2 record, puts loads of pressure on opponents with a balanced scoring attack. The Golden Eagles shot 54 percent, fired in 10 3-pointers and were never pushed over the game’s final 12 minutes.
