Mark Divver: ‘Born leader’ Bjorkqvist shows Friars the way

PROVIDENCE — If anyone was going to lead Providence College out of the woods after they lost their way early in their NCAA East Regional game against Minnesota State last weekend, it was Kasper Bjorkqvist.

“I’m not surprised that he’s the one that got them back on track,″ said Urho Vaakanainen of the Providence Bruins, Boston’s first-round draft pick in 2017.

“He’s always been a leader. He’s very vocal in the locker room. Outside the rink, he’s very energetic. Smiles a lot. He’s a natural-born leader,″ said Vaakanainen, a friend and teammate of Bjorkvist back home in Finland.
