The question came quite easily, without judgment or in any accusatory tone.
“So, how long have you been covering the Friars?”
This query has come from multiple folks over the last few years and begs a quick retort: “Do I look that old?”
Anyway the answer is a big, fat number. This is the 30th season The Providence Journal has assigned me to cover the Providence College Friars. It’s 31 seasons working the college basketball beat because way back in 1989-90 I was thrilled to cover one of Al Skinner’s first Rhode Island Ram teams, one led in every department by the talented, but frail-kneed Kenny Green.
