Friars shock Nittany Lions in NCAA soccer

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Trevor Davock’s goal in overtime gave the Providence College men’s soccer team a stunning 3-2 victory over 15th-ranked Penn State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at Jeffrey Field.

The golden goal came in the 95th minute and capped a comeback from two goals down.

The Friars improve to 16-6-0, which ties the program record of wins in a season. PC will move on to the Round of 16, where it will be making its third appearance in the last five years. The Friars are now 11-7-1 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, 8-3-1 under coach Craig Stewart.
