Friars Journal: Cooley shifts focus to rebounding, turnovers

PROVIDENCE — The Friars came out of New York City last weekend excited about two victories, but coach Ed Cooley didn’t have to look very far to point out some key weaknesses in his team after a busy opening week of the season.

Cooley said he told his team about two key concerns heading into Wednesday’s game against Belmont. The most obvious was rebounding, with turnovers running a close second.

In the two wins in the 2K Classic against Washington and Saint Louis, the Friars gave up 33 offensive rebounds and won the battle of the boards by a slim, 71-68 margin.
