PROVIDENCE – In a search for college basketball’s most surprising teams the hunt doesn’t last very long after a mention of the Butler Bulldogs.
Picked eighth in the Big East coach’s preseason poll, the Dogs quickly pieced together some key returnees with an impact transfer and some vastly improved youngsters to race up the national Top 25. Now 14-1 and a school record sixth in the country, Butler already owns wins over the likes of Florida, Missouri, Stanford and Purdue out of conference and knocked off St. John’s and Creighton in the Big East.
