Bill Koch: URI, PC headed in opposite directions

SOUTH KINGSTOWN — With the exception of a select few folks clad in black and white, the second-largest crowd in Ryan Center history went home happy Friday night.

Players and staff members from the University of Rhode Island and Providence College retreated to their respective locker rooms. It wasn’t just on that short walk off the floor that the two basketball programs seemed to be headed in different directions. The Rams were basking in the glow of a 75-61 victory while the Friars were searching for answers.

David Cox was as proud and content in his postgame press conference as Ed Cooley was dissatisfied and perturbed.
