PROVIDENCE --- Providence College and its fellow Big East league members will play a conference-only schedule through the fall sports season in 2020-21.
Men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and field hockey are the six sports affected by the decision. The Friars frequently match up with in-state rivals Brown University, Brown University and the University of Rhode Island over the course of a given academic year.
“What we’re trying to do is find some more time so that we can assess what the right thing is going to be for them and put their health and safety at the forefront,” said Val Ackerman, Big East commissioner, in a Thursday appearance on WPRO with ‘The Gresh Show.
