Where the Friars Stood: If you had Providence as a tournament team heading into their late January trip to Milwaukee you had more faith than this writer.
Last we checked in, PC raced past Georgetown in D.C., 74-56, to up its Big East record to 3-4. Ed Cooley’s group played two games prior to heading to Marquette — they’d predictably fallen on the road to #1 Villanova and lost in the closing minute at home against St. John’s. Freshman Alpha Diallo had perhaps his best game to date against the Johnnies, with 18 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
