Midfielder Jack Wilshere is close to joining Bournemouth on a season-long loan after a deal to join Roma was blocked by Arsenal.
The Gunners refused to do business with Roma because of the way they handled a potential move for defender Kostas Manolas earlier this summer.
England international Wilshere, 24, held talks with both Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.
He is now set to undergo a medical with the Cherries on Wednesday.
Roma, fifth in Italy's Serie A after two games, have Wilshere's Arsenal team-mate Wojciech Szczesny on loan.
Wilshere played six times for England over the summer - including three games at Euro 2016 - but was not named in Sam Allardyce's first squad this week.
