Chelsea have been looking to negotiate a bargain for Alejandro Garnacho that Daily Mail Sport understands has seen initial proposals drop to around £25million to £35m.
Garnacho's club Manchester United have been insisting for some time that they want £50m for the Argentina international, but in Chelsea's favour is the fact the 21-year-old is saying he only wishes to join them and has resisted approaches from other clubs.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are maintaining long-held interest in Barcelona's left-sided attacking midfielder Fermin Lopez, 22.
Coach Hansi Flick had vetoed the departure of Lopez earlier in the window, with United also among those alert to an opportunity, but Barca are in the familiar position of contemplating sales to register others.
