West Ham confirm the departure of Gianluca Scamacca just one year after he signed for the London side, as Atalanta beat Roma and Inter Milan in the race to sign the Italian forward

West Ham have today confirmed that Gianluca Scamacca has departed the club and joined Atalanta on a permanent deal.

It comes as the Serie A side have beaten Inter Milan and Roma to his signature, with both sides having previously shown an interest in the Italian forward.

Atalanta also notably sold their striker Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United for £72million last week.

But it seems they have acted quickly to secure new reinforcements up top and have signed Scamacca permanently for an undisclosed fee.

West Ham confirmed the news in a club statement earlier today, a year after they signed the 24-year-old for £30m from Sassuolo.
