Vitor Pereira is close to signing a new three-year contract at Wolves even though his team have started the season with four straight defeats.
The Portuguese's current deal expires at the end of the campaign and the Molineux hierarchy are prepared to overlook the worrying early-season form to hand him improved terms.
Pereira did an outstanding job last season when he replaced Gary O'Neil last December.
Taking over with the club staring at relegation, Pereira eventually led them to a comfortable survival.
The summer was challenging for Wolves, with key players Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo all departing, and replaced by signings who lack Premier League experience.
