Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross has signed a new four-year contract that keeps him at the club until 2021.
His previous deal was set to expire at the end of the season and there was talk earlier in the summer of the centre-half looking to leave the club.
With the arrivals of Kurt Zouma, Kevin Wimmer and Bruno Martins Indi this summer Stoke boss Mark Hughes has made significant improvements to a defence.

Those signings have impressed Shawcross enough to sign a new deal.
