English clubs are being targeted by hackers, who are sending fraudulent invoices around the transfers of overseas players.

The issue is so serious, the FA have sent out a warning to clubs urging them to review their email security and to raise the alarm with their financial departments. The FA are also urging sides to report any requests they believe to be fake to themselves and relevant authorities.

The FA say they have ‘seen an increase in reports of cloned or hacked emails...in particular related to payments to overseas clubs’.

Clubs have been told to confirm account details before instructing the FA to make payments and to check FIFA’s system to ensure information is legitimate.
