Southampton are closing in on the signing of Croatia forward Mislav Orsic from Dinamo Zagreb for £7.5m.
The Saints have also opened talks with Racing Club for Argentine midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, 20.
Nathan Jones' side are bottom of the Premier League with just one win in their last 12 top flight games, and are in need of arrivals to boost their survival bid.
Orsic has scored eight goals and provided seven assists in the Croatian top flight this season.
He is perhaps best known to English sides for his hat-trick against Tottenham to dump them out of the Europa League in 2020.
