Southampton 2-0 Everton: Substitute Shane Long scores with his first touch as the Saints make their pressure count against off colour Toffees

Stuart Armstrong and Shane Long scored their first league goals of the season as Southampton beat Everton 2-0 to condemn Frank Lampard to a second defeat in three league games as Toffees boss.

Armstrong broke the deadlock seven minutes after half-time as his strike from the edge of the box found the bottom corner.

Long came off the bench in the 83rd minute and within seconds he headed home Tino Livramento's cross to wrap up the win for the hosts.

The result means that Everton remain five points above the relegation zone in 16th, while Southampton sit 10th.
