Slavisa Jokanovic on the brink of becoming Sheffield United's new boss - with the Serbian having a track record of winning Premier League promotion at Watford and Fulham

Sheffield United are close to appointing Slavisa Jokanovic as their new manager.

Jokanovic is on the verge of a return to English football following talks with the Blades hierarchy after emerging as their first choice to replace Chris Wilder.

Wilder left Sheffield United in March and was replaced by Paul Heckingbottom who was unable to prevent the Bramall Lane club from being relegated.

In Serbian Jokanovic, Sheffield United are poised to turn to a man who has history of securing promotion to the top flight from the Championship.

He led Watford to the Premier League in 2015 as second tier runners up to Bournemouth.
