Sheffield United captain Chris Basham suffers a horrific leg injury against Fulham with veteran defender requiring oxygen before being taken away in an ambulance

Chris Basham is set to be ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a nasty ankle injury against Fulham during Sheffield United’s defeat at Craven Cottage.

Midway through the first half, Basham’s standing left leg gave way as he stretched to cross the ball with his right foot.

‘No-one wants to see that ever and when you're involved in it and it's one of your players it's far far worse,’ said Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom. ‘There’s no diagnosis (yet) but everyone’s seen the pictures. It’s terrible.
