Two business chiefs who tried to rid Manchester United of the Glazer family over decade ago have demanded the Americans reduce their stake in the club to below 50 per cent.

Lord O'Neill - who was behind the Red Knights campaign in 2020 - and hedge fund manager Sir Paul Marshall have written a letter to United co-chairman Joel Glazer demanding huge reforms in the wake of the European Super League scandal.

United and the rest of the Premier League's 'Big Six' all signed up to the doomed breakaway competition that was announced last week but collapsed 48 hours later amid furious backlash from players, managers, fans and government.
