Ralf Rangnick is in favour of scrapping Premier League clubs' involvement in the League Cup as Man United boss claims the calendar has 'too many games' - and he calls on the top-flight to bring back the five-substitute rule

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has called on the Premier League to re-introduce the five-substitute rule, and is also in favour of permanently scrapping FA Cup replays and top-flight clubs' involvement in the League Cup.

English football is again struggling to cope with a congested fixture list after a fresh surge of Covid infections throughout the game caused a raft of postponements going into the busy Christmas period.

The International FA Board has given permission for the five-substitute rule that was introduced during the pandemic to be adopted as a permanent measure in competitions throughout the game.
