A festive firebreak in Premier League fixtures will have little impact on the spread of Covid-19 among top flight clubs, a leading health expert has warned.
And they have been told to brace themselves for six weeks of disruption.
The 20 clubs in the Premier League are set to meet on Monday to discuss a shutdown of football, according to The Times.
It follows the postponement of nine matches in the top flight so far, including five this weekend, and outspoken remarks from the Brentford manager, Thomas Frank, who demanded a pause to clean and 'break the chain' of infection.
