Players who are forced to take wage cuts should be allowed to terminate their contracts and leave for FREE, says Toby Alderweireld's agent... as he insists professional footballers should be treated same as a 'regular worker'

Footballers should be allowed to terminate their contracts and leave a club for free if their wages are cut amid the coronavirus crisis, according to the agent of Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld.

Since the pandemic took hold and stopped football in its tracks, Premier League players have come under significant pressure to cut their salaries, but no agreement has yet been made with top flight chiefs.

Some non-playing staff at clubs up and down the country - including at Spurs - have been furloughed, but players continue to be paid their full salaries, sometimes into hundreds of thousands of pounds a week.
