Pep Guardiola names VERY surprising member of Man City's new five-man leaders group powering them towards the Treble, with unsung hero 'stepping up' since Fernandinho left the club

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed a surprising name among Manchester City's five-member leadership group who have stepped up following the departure of club captain Fernandinho.

The Brazilian midfielder left the club at the end of his contract last summer, following nine seasons at Manchester City.

Fernandinho had served as club captain following Vincent Kompany's exit after the 2018/19 season, before he moved to the Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense.

Ilkay Gundogan was voted by the Man City squad as Fernandinho's successor at the start of the season.
