Next season's FA Cup and Carabao Cup 'could be axed due to tighter English football schedule from coronavirus outbreak'

The scheduling mayhem caused by the coronavirus pandemic could lead to next season's FA Cup and Carabao Cup being axed.

At the moment, the Premier League is set to return on April 3 but that is incredibly unlikely given the serious and ongoing crisis with the United Kingdom in lockdown to prevent further spread of infection.

According to the Sun, the fixture pile up that may occur could lead to both cups getting the chop for the 2020/21 season.

Manchester City won the Carabao Cup this term but it could be axed in the 2020/2021 season

Next Thursday the clubs will engage in a teleconference call to discuss when the Premier League will continue, among other matters.
