Shinji Okazaki took advantage of several glaring defensive errors to seal three points for Leicester and spoil the celebrations at St James' Park on Newcastle's 125th anniversary.
Joselu originally gave Newcastle the lead within four minutes before Riyad Mahrez's divine 25-yard strike brought Leicester back on level terms going into half-time.
Demarai Gray gave Leicester City the lead, but Newcastle looked to more likely winners when Dwight Gayle raised the roof with a quick equaliser. It was then Okazaki, from the bench, who scored the winning goal.
