Mesut Ozil watches his first match as a Fenerbahce player from the stands with the German midfielder still working his way back to full fitness after not featuring for former club Arsenal since March

Mesut Ozil is watching his first game as a Fenerbahce player from the stands on Monday as his new team face Kayserispor.

The German playmaker, who officially joined the Turkish giants on Sunday after more than seven years at Arsenal, is still working his way back to full fitness having not played a competitive game since the Gunners beat West Ham 1-0 on March 7, with Ozil supplying the winner in that game for Alexandre Lacazette with a cushioned header into the Frenchman's path.

Ozil was frozen out of the first-team picture at the Emirates by Mikel Arteta this season, having been excluded from both the Premier League and Europa League squads.
