Manchester City in talks over £6.5m move for Argentina Under-20 midfielder Maximo Perrone... with Pep Guardiola's side looking to beat Newcastle, Wolves and Benfica to the teenager's signature

Manchester City are holding talks over the potential signing of Argentina's Under-20 midfielder Maximo Perrone.

The 19-year-old plays his club football for Velez Sarsfield who are based in the neighbourhood of Liniers on the edge of Buenos Aires.

He has been on the radar of Wolves, Benfica and Newcastle and is expected to leave after the South American U-20 championship.

Perrone made his professional debut back in March against Estudiantes before scoring his first goal for the club in a Copa Libertadores match against Uruguayan side Nacional.

He has made seven appearances at Under-17 level for Argentina, before making his first appearance for Javier Mascherano's U-20s' side in March during a 2-2 draw with the United States.
