Manchester City have confirmed the £18m signing of River Plate forward Julian Alvarez this afternoon.
The 22-year-old Argentine has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal but will return to River Plate on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Argentine is being tipped as the brightest young talent in Argentina following his breakout season, where has scored 19 goals in 33 league games this season as well as registering 18 assists.

In a statement on their official website, City's Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said Alvarez was a player they've monitored for some time and believe he is a player with significant potential.
