Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre maintains his view that the Premier League's bigger clubs deserve to receive more from global TV rights

Ian Ayre has claimed English clubs are still not being sufficiently rewarded in terms of global TV rights as he prepares to end his tenure as Liverpool's chief executive.

Having originally indicated he would leave this summer, Ayre will now leave at the end of February to take on a similar role at ambitious German club TSV 1860 Munich, who are aiming to get back into the Bundesliga under new manager Vitor Perreira, the former Porto head coach.

Back in October 2011, Ayre sparked a debate when he suggested England's elite clubs deserved a bigger slice of TV revenue around the globe and pointed to the example of Spain, where Real Madrid and Barcelona negotiate their own deals.
