Lampard urges Kovacic to end goal drought at Chelsea

The Blues boss was a prolific goalscorer from midfield in his playing days and the next thing he wants from the Croatian is a goal

Frank Lampard has challenged Mateo Kovacic to end his goal drought and find the back of the net in a competitive match for the first time in almost three years.

Kovacic hasn't scored a goal since late January in 2017 when he netted for Real Madrid against Real Sociedad and his current lack of strikes now spans two clubs and his national team.

Chelsea's current manager is the Blues' all-time leading goalscorer with 211 goals and has overseen Kovacic's best spell at Chelsea since he made his loan move from Real Madrid permanent in a €46 million (£40m/$51m) summer move.
