Lady Cathy thought Sir Alex Ferguson was a 'gangster or boxer' when they first met and told him NOT to retire in 2002 because of three reasons... what the Man United legend has said about his wife after her death at the age of 84

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson's wife of 57 years, Lady Cathy, died at the age of 84.

The pair got married in 1966 and Cathy stood by him during a long, intense and glittering managerial career.

Cathy was the mother-of-three and grandmother to 12 and was described by her husband as his 'bedrock' after being his 'tower of strength' over his career and helping nurse him back to health after his stroke in 2018.

Her support played a crucial role to his success, racking up 49 trophies in English football including 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions League trophies.
