Jose Mourinho received £8.3million in compensation after being sacked by Chelsea with Portuguese and his staff having pocketed £31.4m from the club

Chelsea paid Jose Mourinho £8.3million to dismiss him, their official accounts show – and the so-called Special One and his staff have now taken an extraordinary £31.4million from the club since 2007, just for being sacked.

Mourinho and his staff received the huge pay out after being dismissed by Chelsea in December 2015 but when Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in 2007, he and his staff received an astonishing £23.1m deal in compensation which so angered owner Roman Abramovich that he vowed never to allow it to happen again.

However, Mourinho and his team Rui Faria, Silvino Louro, Jose Morais and Carlos Lalin still managed to take what looks to be a year's money out of Chelsea – with Mourinho, Faria, Silvino and Lalin all now happily employed on similar terms at Manchester United.
