Jordan Pickford will have a scan on a recurring rib injury on Monday after it forced him to go off before half time in Burnley defeat with FA Cup quarter-finals and England World Cup qualifiers on the horizon

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will have a scan on Monday to check on the recurrence of a rib injury that saw him substituted after 43 minutes of Everton’s 2-1 home defeat against Burnley.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti hasn’t totally given up hope on the 27-year-old recovering in time to face Manchester City in next weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final but the goalkeeper did miss three weeks with a similar issue earlier in the season.

England manager Gareth Southgate will also be an interested observer as he prepares for three World Cup qualifiers at the end of the month.
