The England Under 21 stopper took some time away from the football pitch to switch sports on Monday, sparring with Olympic boxer Pat McCormack.
The pair met up at Birtley Boxing Gym, just two days after the Black Cats shipped four goals at home to Arsenal.
That result leaves David Moyes' side stranded at the bottom of the league with just two points, but it appears Pickford is up for a scrap.
