Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani has submitted a fifth bid to seize control of Manchester United and set a deadline of Friday.

The offer, as revealed by Mail Sport today, was lodged directly with the Glazer family, the club's owners, and Raine Group, the bankers managing the lengthy saga.

It is understood that the Sheikh has told those involved that he will engage until Friday. After then, the bid will stand, but there will be no further negotiations.

The bid is his fifth and remains for total control of the club. A preferred bidder out of Sheikh Jassim and petrochemicals billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has not been chosen.
